Immediately: Uti is caused by bacteria multiplying in the urine. Thus bladder urine will be full of bacteria once you have a uti.

:  250 mg, one twice a dayTfor 3 days. Drink plenty of water, keep the vulva area clean, empty your bladder when you get the urge- now and in the future. Hope you do well.

Could be ok: Staph can be a contaminant...If you're feeling better its probably working.  If you feel worse see your doctor for a repeat culture.

May be none: If you can bend your knee without pain, the likelihood is that the joint was not affected. It would help to lose weight, not easy.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

dr found staph infection in my urine.. put me on 7 day course antibiotics (alprim) what's a staph infection? make your skin itch? how did i get it :(

Staphylococcus is a: bacterium that can cause variety of infxns—skin, lungs, wounds, blood, etc. I suspect itching comes from alprim (sulfa-based antibiotics often cause itching) so tell doc so (s)he can change to different one. Your hx of kidney stone suggests problems with your urinary tract. The Keflex may be killing off more common causes of UTI so that more powerful bacteria can infect. See doc 4 complete workup

Symptoms clear: You will know when the original symptoms are clear and you finish your antibiotic course.  What exactly to look for depends on the source and location of the infection in question.

Yes: If a boil or abscess is present a specimen of the drainage or pus can be sent to the lab and a culture of the organisms is made. If staph aureus is grown on the culture then next it is grown on a culture with methicillin to see if the methicillin will inhibit growth of the staph. If growth not inhibited the staph aureus is methicillin .Resistant.

Carriage: You have staph on the surfaces of your skin, probably conveyed there from nasal carriage.  You can try to minimize this by using bactoban (mupirocin) in your nose and washing and bathing exclusively with chlorhexadine containing soaps, but this will only eliminate carriage in about 50% of cases.  The other possibility is that combing aggressively or scratching, etc. Is producing breaks in skin.
