Doxycycline : Minocycline or Doxycycline or Bactrim DS or cephalexin or dicloxacillin  or clindamycin. Are are good choices for Staphylococcus aures infection if Oxacillin sensitive. 
If MRSA then depends on its susceptibility pattern of the specific strain being treated.

Wish I could tell: you no but yes you can get the bacteria to live on your skin again, which is impossible to guard against.  You should not get infections all the time, unless there is something not 100% with your immune system -- but Staph is known to live on human skin, most of the time not causing any problems.  Hopefully you will not get infections again.

Staph aureus: A combination of Mupirocin ointment in the nares twice a day for a month, combined with bathing solely with a soap containing hexachlorophine (if you use another soap you will wash off the thin layer it creates on the skin and render it ineffective) to try and eliminate the skin surface contamination. This is only effective in slightly more than half of patients, but worth trying.

: MRSA staph are one of the most common findings in simple pustules treated in outpatient settings. The germ is found in many locations in the environment and can be found in nasal cultures of many carriers. There are several antibiotics that can kill it along with hydrogen peroxide. What this means in your case should be determined by your doc.

Normal skin bacteria: There is no reason to be worried.  Staph aureus is a  bacteria that is a normally on skin and  everyone has it. If you have no symptoms, then treat the swab result  as  a normal result

Herpes?: This is too complex for a clear on this sort of forum. Keep working with your doctors. If not under the care of a genitourinary medicine (GUM) or infectious diseases specialist, that might be worthwhile. Also, make sure you were tested for herpes, which could cause such symptoms. 4 to 5 times a day: Clean finger, apply 4 to 5 times a day. No qtips. Do it for at least a week or 4 days past complete lack of symptoms.

Some basics: MRSA in not the plague or rare or as bad as many make it out to be. It can be found as the cause of most simple abscesses or pustules seen by doctors &amp; those germs are everywhere. Many simple older drugs like bactrim kill it easily as do many others.
