Difficult: The pool of highly academically qualified applicants is larger than the number of places.  So most add on extra  study, projects in the public sector such as charity work, laboratory assistant experience, various internships.  Of course the barriers come down with a rich daddy or superior athletic performance.

Resources: A university provides resources and exposure to informaiton and may provide opportunities you cannot obtain yourself.  There are also world-renown connections and relationships developed at university which allow you to extend your knowledge and personal life, as well as becoming the best in your field of interest. Find a life coach: You need to find a life coach/therapist to explore how to deal with your life issues. We are not born with all the skill sets we need to deal with life, we must learn them. Sometimes we need a tutor, which a therapist can be. You are not the first or only person in this rut. It happens to many. Do the work and life can get better.

Routines: There's not a simple fix for doing well at something.  Routines which include eating nutritiously, exercising, keeping your body free from harmful substances, and getting enough sleep are a good start.  Students should go to class, be actively curious about the subject, and do what the teacher says.  Finally, finish and hand in all assignments and study with others so you do well on tests.

Read Temple Grandin: You may need special reports from your doctor, but most universities allow special testing situations for students with specific problems.  Temple grandin has written wonderful books describing how she was able to succeed, and she offers good advise.

If you get sleepy: Only when you are studying, then it is probably the subject matter that is too boring for you.  If you are less alert in general while doing other things, it might be medical cause.  Get medical evaluation, it could be any one of 100's of causes. Get help before your grades suffer.
