The uterus is divided between cervix and corpus or body.  The body usually refers to the endometrial lining, and the stage by invasion into the muscle.  Stage IV almost always means distant disease. Some start there.

Uterine : Uterine cancer has two forms: endometrial cancer and cervical cancer. We screen for cervical cancer with examinations and pap (papanicolau) tests. Endometrial cancer can be sceened for with ultrasound and or endometrial biospies. Many women with endometrial cancer will have post menopausal bleeding. This is a warning sign that can;t be ignored as it will often be present when the cancer is still curable.

Why with out ?: Probably  ( unfortunately ) 12 months if untreated, over all  IV a has17%  IV b has 15% survival rate, also  depends on type of tumor and cell activity etc.  Good palliation is possible  now with chemo radiation , currently great chemo therapeutic agents are available palliation is getting better.

: Pl have him see his doc or the oncologist for palliative care. There are medications which can be given to help and ways to give him nutrition I hope he feels better

Yes and no: If he is losing weight, we get concerned about two possibilities: progression or the chemo is causing too much side effects.  So sometimes we give a treatment holiday.  This allows the person to try and regain some stamina.  However, the cancer could get worse.  But we take care of both the cancer and the patient.

As for other treatments, stage-4 cancers are frequently incurable, so they tend to relapse and more treatment if often required. So be watchful and have a close follow up and ask the questions to your oncologist who can probably guide you as we.
