What activities?: What activities cause the shoulder to hurt?  Often an initial small pain or injury can cause one 2 hold the shoulder in a guarded position.  This position becomes the starting point for future movements which, because of the abnormal starting position, are abnormal in character, leading 2 more wear and tear.   Rehab must focus on getting the sholdr muscles to work as a unit from proper start postn.

Popping,pain: Possible causes are tendinitis(inflammation of a tendon), tendinosis(chronic injury and degeneration of tendon), arthritis, rotator cuff pathology. An orthopedic surgeon can evaluate you for diagnosis and treatment options. Any appropriate testing would be ordered.

It depends,,,: It depends on how long you have had this and if it stops you from doing your regular activity.  If it has been going on for a long time, it might be a good idea to see a doctor who specializes in joints like an Orthopedist.  If it is of a more recent nature, and it is very painful, it might be wise to see a doctor sooner for an exam.  Best of luck.

Many possibilities: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. A thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams are needed to determine the exact cause. Causes of pain may include: trauma (fracture, sprain, arthritis), infection, metabolic conditions (gout), musculoskeletal or biomechanical abnormality and neurologic conditions (neuropathy).

Degenerative change : Snapping is most likely bony changes at the numeral head (ball of the joint) that is rubbing bone or tendon. Weakness may mean true muscular atrophy or just pain response. See a PMR doc or orthopoedist for a full eval and treatment plan which will probably include x rays. NSAIDS, injections, physical therapy. You should know for sure! Good luck
