Best idea. TaperSSRI: The best idea is to briefly go back on the ssri you were on at a lower dose and taper off before trial on inositol.  Call your doctor to discuss treatment.   Please know, stopping ssri suddenly can be very dangerous.

Consult with the prescribing psychiatrist and figure out if the depression has simply reared it's head again or not

Depends: SSRI withdrawal severity is usually with respect to rapidity of taper.  The symptoms can last for several weeks, but can be less severe with a slower taper.  If you feel like this is too much of a withdrawal, sometimes switching doses every other day (e.g. 20mg every other day alternating with 10mg) for 1 week then 10mg for 1 week, then continue... can mitigate severity of withdrawal.
