i got some galvanized paint flicked in my eye by accident itz after hours my dr is closed i sprayed some water in from a water bottle is it snytging to worry about ? my wife states it looks like it's absorbed in my eye?

: If that eye is asymptomatic after the incident, you have nothing to worry. Make sure to use the goggles next time when painting, take care.

after spray painting my eyes are all red, irritated and swolen... looks like a pink eye kinda... it didn't happen until about 24 hr after the painting?

Accepted Answer

Probably a virus: The most likely cause would be a viral conjunctivitis. It is possible some of the spray paint went into your eyes but you would would have noticed this almost immediately. You might also be allergic to the paint. This would have caused both reddening of the eyes and the swelling of the eyelids. Try cool compresses to the eyes and artificial tears. If no relief see your  doctor.

Chemical Exposure: Sounds like a chemical conjunctivitis… Pinkeye caused by being irritating chemicals in the spray paint can.  Sounds like you made the right choice going to the emergency department. All the best… Dr. C

should you stop using steroid nasal sprays if you get a herpes outbreak in the eyelids?

Accepted Answer

Not necessary.: Nasal steroid absorption is very poor so not associated with immune suppression. It may aggravate glaucoma.

Allergic response!: This is likely an allergic dermatitis to the pain.  Try a bit of Hydrocortisone cream 1% to the affected area.  If it doesn't get better in a few days, see an ophthalmologist!

so my friend banks home made hand sanitizer spray and she was spring it's in the opposite direction of me and when i soaked it touch my eyelid i shut them. it only felt like one dropi need to worry about it it has been about two hours do you think i will

Spray: At this time you should not have any problems. If any symptoms recur,and I doubt they will,consult an ophthalmologist.

yesterday, i must have gotten something in my eye when doing a home project. it was likely a piece of wood or a paint chip. i should have been wearing eye protection. hindsight is 20/20 (ok, bad dad joke).

this morning, my upper eyelid is swollen, red, and sensitive to the touch. my vision seems to be fine. at what point would i need to be seen? i have been flushing with eye drops and cold compress. anything else i should do?

Ice, cool compress : Watch for signs of infection and vision change. Apply a thin layer of Bacitracin ointment twice daily. Please follow up with your physician. If there is eye redness and pain of the orbit, please see the Emergency Department.

Not a good idea: Don't even think about it.  Eyes will be irritated. I would try flushing them with cold water and go to the er for thorough eye exam.

can you tell me what number of brain cells do you lose from huffing spray paint?

Accepted Answer

I don't think anyone: has counted, and I would hope that, by age 37, if this is you, you would have given up huffing by now.  Tens of thousands of brain cells may be injured or die with severe alcohol intoxication, and I would imagine it would be even more with huffing toluene compounds. We have billions of brain cells, but if you huff daily, we are talking about losing tens of millions over the course of a year.
