i have a 30-day cycle. ovulation days 12-16. on day 17 of cycle (today)had tiny amount of brown mucus spotting and 1 smear of red blood.  why is this?

When in doubt: just check pregnancy test in 2 weeks and repeat if negative in 1 week.  And if you are still not bleeding normally and first pregnancy test was negative, check it again in 1 week.  Try to remember if the last time you had unprotected intercourse was also near your last ovulation date.  Then go see your GYN or family physician to get examined for infection if things persist.

spotting day 10/11, + opk day 17/18, spotting day 19/20/21, bbt temp still not risen. ovulated yet? what's happening? not experienced annovulation

Maybe: Best test for ovulation is a blood Progesterone level of &gt; 3 ng/ml. Other than pregnancy (which is proof positive) the other tests are less specific. I think that bbts are kinda cruel so rarely suggest that my patients do them. Opks have been shown to only increase patient anxiety and not improve chance of pregnancy. So for patients with regular cycles i suggest sex on cyclec days 10/12/14/16.

Spotting: Can mean a lot of things. Unfortunately, blood can come from a number of different sites including hemorrhoids, from the urine, from the cervix or from the uterus. Therefore if it persists can be a need for evaluation. If it is from the uterus it may be a variation in the hormone levels, polyp or fibroid in the uterus.

Menstruation: Cycles vary both in the frequency with which they occur, the degree to which persons bleed, they may occasionally spot.  None of this is necessarily abnormal unless it becomes persistent or excessive.  If you do not let up in a day or two, see a gynecologist.

? Pregnancy: it is possible you could be pregnant.  If you miss your period take a home pregnancy test.

Your hormones: are likely in flux for whatever reason, and you would need to be patient to see if things would settle down.  Menstrual fluctuations are affected by many different factors, including nutrition, psychological state of mind, stress, infections/ illnesses, etc.  If things continue to be irregular or unpredictable in the next couple of months,  check pregnancy test twice 1 week apart.

Reassurance : Half marathon is a lot of work for  body. And you need give more time for yourself with rest and mild exercise

Impending period: Many women will begin to spot just before the actual period starts. It is probably normal.
