Various reasons: Postmenopausal spotting or bleeding can occur for a variety of reasons.  It could be as simple as a vaginal infection (yeast or bacterial), a bladder infection, or an std.  It could also be as severe as a vaginal, cervical, or uterine cancer.  Either way, post menopausal bleeding is never normal and you should see your physician for a definitive diagnosis.

Postmenopausal : Any bleeding after menopause has to be worked up by an endometrial biopsy or D&C with hysteroscopy.   The chance of cancer on the biopsy is 20%.  So, any bleeding after menopause is cancer until proven otherwise.

Needs to see MD: Fibroids should stop growing postmenopausally. If you have postmenopausal bleeding of any sort or amount you need to see your doctor.

Yes, but...: In menopause normal cyclical clear discharges will resolve with menopause.  However, if this is not the normal small amount of cyclical discharge than the reason you are having the discharge should be evaluated by your gynecologist and treated appropriately.

i am 63 yrs. old i have migranes and have had them for 20 yrs. i thought they would stop after menopause but they have not ?

Not related: Most migraines are not hormonally related as demonstrated by your case, unless you are now taking hormone replacement. If you have several a month ask your dr. About a beta blocker to prevent them.

would there be any side effects from removal of ovaries after menopause?  i have read that they stop working, but also that they work until age 65.

Ovaries do not: Work till age 65 !  may still be producing some hormones in the early to mid  50s so you may get some hot flashes that can be easily treated.

why don't hot flashes stop after menopause? i've had hot flashes for almost ten years now, even though my periods stopped eight years ago. menopause is over, so why am i still having symptoms?

I : I am sorry you are going through this.  You may want to consider seeing a gynecologist, as there are treatments available for severe menopause symptoms.  Some women respond to healthy diet and exercise, but some women need medical intervention for their severe symptoms.

Irregular menses: This can happen during menopause.  I advice you to consult your ob-gyn just to be safe and to be assured.

Doubt menopause: Hi. Menopause isn't likely, given your age (40) and the fact that prolonged bleeding is not a normal manifestation of menopause. Please talk with your gyn. There are benign and malignant causes for abnormal bleeding. Good luck!

i'm in early menopause and i have spotting all the time.   i had a normal biosopy. how can this be relieved?

Speak to Gyne : Speak to your gyne. They may be able to give a trial of medication. If insuccessful may need a d& c procedure.
