Neck pain: The area you describe is where the lower part of the neck (cervical spine) connects with the mid back (thoracic spine). The headaches  (cervicogenic) are caused by tight neck muscles that insert on the back of the head. The C6/7 level is a common area for pain due to a herniated or degenerated disc. Moist heat, ice and massages can reduce the pain. If it persists see a neurosurgeon.

a few months now, areas in back/sides of rib cage hurt, thought it was soft mattress. now more areas hurt, and one place next to spine hurts to touch. ?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor. You may take an over the counter pain relief medication like acetaminophen and do not drink alcohol.

why would my spine hurt to touch in just one area?  it hurts to touch one of my thoracic vertebrae.  no history of trauma.

Wait And See: One little isolated spot of thoracic vertebral tenderness is hard to figure out without an in-person exam.In your age group it's usually due to a bump or strain,but you say that's not the case.If you said you'd had an infection(even of a tooth)or a fever,then I'd be a bit more concerned and suggest someone take a look at it if it persisted over two weeks or so.If you use IV drugs,get to an ER now.

my spine hurts to touch about 6" from my neck. i have daily fevers, low lymphocytes and wbc feels like someone is sitting on my head, crushing spine?

Need to be examined!: Neck symptoms and low WBC may not be related. Often times patients test results return with mildly low WBC or lymphocytes. It depends on how much lower than normal they are.  Mildly low counts can be "normal" for some patients.

If a patient has neck/spine pain and fever he or she needs to be examined by a physician. Don't try to self-diagnose these symptoms. See a primary care physician soon.

if my sciatic nerve is being pressured by something in my lower spine and cannot touch my toes with my legs straight should i get surgery at age 20?

No: It sounds like you have had a tough time with sciatica and have poor flexibility. It appears that you need aggressive physical therapy and good medical management by a physician to help the problem. Its not clear if you are already being offered surgery or not. Surgery is not the answer for true sciatica. Look into a technique called neural flossing with a physical therapist.

Full work up please: Most often, this could be a sprain or strain in the area, but suggest a full history and physical to rule out something more rare but more problematic.  May need imaging test, such as spinal MRI.

Difficult to tell: for sure, but it could be pilonidal cyst abscess.  Show it to your doctor, because sometimes it requires antibiotics or even surgical drainage.

Spinal pain: Likely sprain or strain. Consider overuse.

Any studies?: This may represent nerve or nerve root irritation. If it is inflammatory an NSAID may help; if no resolution then seek further evaluation.
