i have a number of problems with my lower spine and cervical spine. i get shots for pain. i think the shots are causing more problems. is there any da?

my son is developing a red spots on his spine from the last week. they grow 2-3 in number and disappear leaving brown mark. he is displaying no other conditions and is absolutely fine god willingly.
he was treated for meningitis when he was born.

There : There are a few conditions that can cause night sweats, back pain, and multiple MRI lesions.  None of them are particularly happy.

Have you been tested for TB or other mycobacteria?  Pott's disease can present this way and, because it is rare in this country, can be overlooked.  Other possibilities are lymphoma and multiple myeloma.  Ewing's sarcoma can mimic infection, but is usually more localized.  If all of these have been ruled out, then it is something even more rare, such as some of the myelodysplastic disorders (where the bone marrow doesn't make the right blood cells).

While it is frustrating to have a diagnosis take months, there are a lot of risks involved and making the right diagnosis is essential for the proper treatment.  If you treat an infection with chemotherapy or cancer with antibiotics, the problem will only get worse.

It may: It depends on the nature of the surgery, the part of the spine involved, and how the surgeon gets there. The lowest disk in the body (l5s1) approached from the front is the one associated with retrograde ejaculation (sperm goes into the bladder, so the climax is dry), but it can occur with other low back disks.

Start with physician: Start with a visit to your physician for a complete history and physical. If your physician cannot make the diagnosis in the office, imaging may be appropriate.

 Spine radiographs would likely be of little use. Mri with contrast to include the area of concern would likely be the best 1st test. If cortical bone involvement is suspected, none contrast ct scan may be indicated as well.

Carisoprodol : Carisoprodol (which also goes by the brand name soma) is a drug that is used to relax muscles.  It is a schedule IV controlled substance because it has the potential to be habit-forming.  After taking carisoprodol, the drug stays in your system for about 24 to 48 hours....But, this is only because it is converted by your liver into another active drug, called meprobamate.  Meprobamate is another schedule IV drug that is rarely used because 1) not much drug is needed to overdose; 2) it is psychologically habit-forming; 3) stopping it can cause severe, life-threatening physical withdrawal, and 4) it can make the sedating effects of other medications, like opioid pain killers, much stronger, potentially leading to death.

The physician-patient relationship is based on trust on both sides.  Deception, such as by hiding the use of certain medications, can seriously harm that relationship and the patient's health.

just recently had a ct scan of the lungs with dye and now my doc has ordered mri of my spine with dye. what are the risk of too much dye in system?

No: The dye as it's called is gadolinium and it shows up and gives very good outline of the areas studied with no scatter artifact. It is excreted fairly rapidly. The tests may not be able 2 b done the same day, 2 allow the contrast 2 clear, but no risk that i know of.

Aging: Deterioration of the spine is usually demonstrated by a decrease in the disc height or spaces between the vertebra (bones). This can be accompanied by spurring of the bones and the joints in the back of the spine (facets). These changes can be accompanied by deformity such as scoliosis (curvature) or kyphosis (forward flexed posture) or spondylolisthesis (slipped bones).
