Spinal cord shock: Usually this refers to a spinal cord injury where the cord is in shock because it has swelling (edema), which compresses the blood vessels and lowers the essential blood pressure (and supply) within the substance of the cord.

Sciatica: When a spur on the adjacent bone joint irritates a nerve leaving the spinal cord through the bony spinal column, a sensation of electrical shock is felt in the area the nerve travels to. Sometimes the cushioning discs between the bony pieces of the spinal column degenerate with protrusion that can similarly irritate a nerve. It is wise to have a physician evaluate this symptom.

Depends on timing: Traction to treat disc degeneration has limited evidence, although as disc bulging tends to occur from axial compression, traction tends to draw in the bulge.

Electrical shock: The shock from an electrical outlet will not effect you any differently with the plate in than it would have without the plate.  Just be careful around electricity.  Make sure you have rubber shoes on and use rubber gloves.  Good luck.

my wife had a spinal tap procedure done now she has electric shocks running down her legs and throughout her body what should we do?

Spinal tap: Not uncommon to get some back pain following lumbar puncture.  Tingling a bit less common and should be discussed with her doctor. If there is any weakness or changes in bladder ot bowel function this wiuld need more urgent attention to look for hematoma at site of procedure.

Spinal: U should notify the person who performed the procedure ASAP as there are treatments to help prevent further problem. This can be a serious issue

: The description of your procedure means the needle entered the space inside, not outside(epi)  the dura. If the anesthetic went in there you had a spinal anesthetic and the resulting symptoms are reflective of that different location.

hi, today i was diagnosed with upper airway resistance syndrome (uars) and last week with vocal cord paralysis . are these two have any connections with ms? i have difficulty walking, pins and needles, electrical shock pain along spinal cord. thanks?

Diagnostic dilemma: The lung and vocal cord issues are not features of MS, but some of your symptoms could be associated with such a problem, especially the "electrical shock pain along spinal cord".  All of this needs careful correlation.  Have you previously had a neurological diagnosis?
If not, perhaps time to see neurologist and get this pinned down.

Etiology: Your current plethora of symptoms has nothing to do with the shingles 26 yrs ago, and you need to have a full neurological examination.  The symptoms point to a multi-focal central nervous system disorder, which needs to be diagnosed and treated ASAP.  Contact your doctor and move forwards.
