A member asked:

I had a baby and received an epidural - while the epidural was being inserted i got a shock like pain all the way down my left heel. after birth i had a spinal headache and my heel had shooting pains. its been 9 months and my heel is still painful?

The description of your procedure means the needle entered the space inside, not outside(epi) the dura. If the anesthetic went in there you had a spinal anesthetic and the resulting symptoms are reflective of that different location.
