Retention cyst: Hello, cysts are commonly found within the paranasal sinuses. It is believed that they occur from an occlusion of an outflow tract from a mucus secreting gland. This gland continues to produce mucus and before long it swells like a water balloon. These cysts can be varying sizes and as long as they don't occlude the sinus ostea, they are just identified and observed. No surgery is needed.

Unlikely: Small mucus retention cysts are common findings in sinuses imaging, unless it obstructs sinus drainage or cause recurrent sinusitis, rare, it is just observed, a coincidental finding. At any rate the doctor who ordered the MRI, for whatever reason can explain, if you do have other sinus problems, see an ENT specialist, good luck

MRI very sensitive: Just because you have something in the sinus, it does not mean it is the cause of your symptoms. Retention cysts are common.  Does light or sound bother you when you have the headache?  Do you have visual changes before the headache comes? If so you may have migraine.

Mucous membrane: Often this is from an allergic reaction. If the thickening is significant, one needs to consider an infection in the sinuses.  Do note that pregnancy itself can cause nasal congestion (especially if you have never had nasal symptoms prior to your pregnancy).

Cyst in sinus: It means that you have  a small soft tissue mass in your right cheek sinus.  It if nearly impossible to differentiate solid versus fluid-filled masses on a ct scan.  Either way, no treatment is generally necessary for this condition.

We see them often: Causes of retention cysts are unknown; as much as we think allergy plays a role others appear to have no association. . Usually they aren't painful themselves; but they can enlarge, block passages and contribute to formation of sinus infections, similar to nasal polyps. Headaches? Maybe. Depends. Usually not. Options: oral steroids, surgery, allergy shots; some recommend do nothing. See ENT.

Sinus cyst: A common finding in sinus fils or CT scan. Often seen in allergic patients. Mucocele (mucosal cyst) in sinus can be seen in 20% of asymptomatic normal patients. Mucosal edema is consistent with allergic patient and does not require surgery unless there are repeated sinus infections

Retention cysts: Mucus retention cysts in the sinuses are common. As many as 30-40% of asymptomatic patients will have cysts of the sinuses on ct scans. The majority of these shrink without treatment or don’t change over time. Without symptoms or complications, observation is the best course to take. Thickening of turbinates can mean anything, from allergy to anatomic variance.
