However there are specialty clinics that have physicians of other specialties like er docs, family practice docs, and other various surgical specialists performing the procedure. They can be well qualified and as long as they have dependable backup to handle complications, should be safe.

Talk to your Dr.: The Basilic Vein travels both in superficial and deep tissues. The specific location of the blood clot will determine whether is is a deep vein thrombosis or a superficial vein thrombosis. DVT is an emergent situation and will be treated immediately. SVT is not emergent and can be treated a month later or more. Talk to your Dr for specifics on your imaging results or other diagnostic tests.

necessary?: I am guessing you have a prominent vein which disturbs you in its appearance.  These are benign and can be ignored and that is an option for you.  Otherwise removal with cautery or laser are possibilities with a high success rate and minimal discomfort.

being so closed to the eye sclerotherapy might be the safest
usually it is not painful

: Do you have a family history of varicose veins? Do you have varicose veins at this time? If not your internal leg veins with faulty valves are the problem, will get worse and may need stripping. Lying down with legs elevated high relieves pain. Compression stockings prescribed yet?  The vascular surgeon will evaluate you, order appropriate tests &amp; then advise you.

It takes a keen eye: And a high index of suspicion from a general or family practitioner or internist to diagnose these metabolic  conditions  because the symptoms are non- specific - nausea., fatigue , lethargy , vomiting etc. Then a referral to a medical geneticist and/ or hepatologist is warranted to confirm the diagnosis -achieved through blood work and/or liver biopsy.
