GERD: I believe the most common cause of a sour taste is the mouth is gastro-esophageal reflux (gerd).  It is also possible that infectious disease may be responsible.  Over the counter ant-acids such as tums, (calcium carbonate) maalox, or Prilosec may be of benefit.  I would suggest a GI specialist for prompt diagnosis.  Gerd can eventually lead to esophagitis, which in turn can rarely lead to cancer of the esophagus.

our son is taking sertraline for anxiety, every now and then he gets a sour feeling in his throat  what would that be is there something he can take to help him when he gets this feeling

Hello. : Hello. Sometimes sertraline (zoloft) can be a little tough on the gastrointestinal tract. I have several recommendations. 1. Take the zoloft with food. 2. Depending on how high the dose is, it can be split. I.E. Take half in evening and half in am (vice once a day). 3. This really helps - use of probiotics. Consider greek yogurt, kefir or probiotics that come in pill form. Use two to three times a day (preferrably not with a meal).  Good luck.

i've bilateral cervical rib. i've too much pain in my neck joint, and sourness and stiffness, please suggest me some solution, medication or surgery?

Let me explain: About 1 in 10 people who have a cervical rib develop thoracic outlet syndrome.
Treatment depends on the underlying cause.
Blood vessel compression or blockage or nerve compression.
Physiotherapy may be helpful for some people.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
You may also need to modify or change your work or sport activities.
In some cases, surgery to relieve the cause of the compression.

my throat pangs in random places like the feeling you get if you eat something sour. i'm also belching a lot. what could be causing this?

REFLUX: Belching is generally caused by swallowing too much air.  This could be from drinking carbonated beverages or stress or possibly on purpose because of indigestion and trying to relieve the indigestion.

But it's possible your throat is "panging" because there is something sour--stomach acids.  If stomach acids rise to the throat it would hurt.  This is called gastro-esophogeal reflux.

Reflux: Sounds like you have reflux.  Your stomach contents are going back into your esophagus.  See your doctor for treatment options.

?strep throat: You need to be evaluated, if your throat is so sore you can't swallow.  Streptococcus can cause a skin rash, as well, but a quick look and  throat swab can make or clear the diagnosis.  Get yourself to a prompt care or urgent care center.  Good luck.

Bleach Exposure: You have exposed to Sodium Hypochlorite, one of the active ingredients  of Household bleach.  In a confined , not well aerated space, such as a shower, and breathing the fumes, can cause a chemical pneumonitis.  Should see your PCP , to be checked and followed, to make sure that this process does not progress and become worse by developing secondary bacterial infection of the Lungs and airway.

Mouth breathing ?: Acid reflux? Oral hygiene? Dental issues? Diet? So many possibilities for your problem. A full medical history and dental examination would go a long way in isolating the cause(s). Please see your dentist and physician for consultations.

my mother tested negative for covid19 after a family member tested positive. she initially had a sour throat and cough and is currently taking cold/flu medication. her issue at the moment is that she's feeling fatigued, can she take anything?

COVID 19 negative: Was she symptomatic when she tested? Has she worsened significantly?  If answers are no &amp; yes, have her talk with her PCM. Rest, hydrate, &amp; eat healthfully. Consider use of acetaminophen, saline for nasal irrigation, decongestant or cough syrup. Get urgent care for difficulty breathing, blue lips, persistent chest pain/ pressure or new onset confusion.

hi i am feeling unwell. very tired the whole time, throat is a bit sour but not serious. ears feel a bit closed and a mild headache constantly. i feel unwell but not sure if it warrants a doctor visit or might be covid. what would you recommend?
