See details: One cannot provide much guidance over the internet. The mouth requires examination. See a dentist if there is tenderness palpating the tooth or major cold sensitivity in the tooth area. Otherwise, see your primary care if you are concerned.

for the past 2 weeks, i have had a minor sore throat on the right side of my throat (right tonsil). this is accompanied by an occasional throat irritation that can produce a cough. no sinus probs or fever. occasional ear aches though. what is this??

Tonsillitis: Sometimes tonsillitis can cause referred pain to the ear, and sometimes the ear pain can do vice versa. You could go to your primary to get tested for strep and get antibiotics. You can try phenylephrine and guaifenesen as well as cetirizine also.

If this is the only: Information i had to go on i would guess that you are having reflux at night and that you sleep on your right side. If it persists he should have an examination by a physician.

OK, and....: This is very little information to go on, but if you think you're getting a cold/flu, you may want to go out and get zinc lozenges, since zinc has been proven to inhibit the attachment of adenovirus to the throat early on in the course of disease.  Drink plenty of fluids, keep warm, and take vitamin c.  If this fails, see the doctor.

That certainly can: Happen. Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day.  For significant symptoms seek medical eval.

Possible strep: It sounds like you may have tonsillitis or pharyngitis. It would be good for you to see a doctor for a strep test. It could be viral but if it is a streptococcal infection you would need antibiotics.

Right is Not Right: You  have many symptoms on your right but they may all be related. Go to your doctor or an urgent care center to make sure you haven't developed lower respiratory tract   which originated from your sore throat and  traveled  downward.
