sinus surgery 3wks ago.running fever, sore throat, aches, heart beating  fast. dr said not strep or flu. could it be from surgery? debride once a week

Concerned?: You may have contracted a cold which can cause the symptoms described. However if the fever is over 103 degree then I would suspected an infection. A rare bit problem from surgery may be a sponge left behind causing an infection. If the problem gets worse or lasts &gt;a few days, you need to check with the surgeon again and perhaps even insist on an imaging study on the sinus.

i recently had sinus surgery and had my nose packed. after sleeping with my mouth open for a few days i noticed white patches on my uvula and sore throat. what can cause this. ?

Possibly: Assuming there is no fever, chills, sweats or nsasal discharge this appears to be a simple viral cold; howeverm due to you history-plrease consult with your ENT specialist.

Suggestions: Not sure why chest should hurt unless muscle relaxants used during surgery.  Sore throat either from breathing tube or bloody drainage into it.Expect bloody crusting for 2-3 weeks as it takes about 4-6 weeks for the sinus and nasal lining to recover to the point of self-cleaning.  Until then be consistent with saline rinses. Afrin spray for 3-4 days may help saline get into sinuses better to clean.

Rest and gargle: If you had an intubation expect a sore throat.Very normal.Gargle with warm salt water for 2 days every 2-3 hours.

Sore Throat Surgery: A sore throat after surgery is most often due to the tube that was placed through your mouth to help you breathe during surgery. You can use throat lozenges to help with the discomfort. It will go away after a couple of days.

Possibly not...: For an elective procedure, you need to be in your best possible health to avoid post-op complications. If the procedure is delayed, it is only because the surgeon and anesthesiologist don't want you to have any untoward side effects. Any procedure, and anesthesia itself , carries inherent risk. If the doctors think you should reschedule, they are looking out for your best interests.

Some thoughts...: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to look for strep). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (ibuprofen) may lessen pain.

Unusual: Depending upon the type of surgery it would be unusual not to be intubated.  You can certainly have bloody phlegm and sore throat from other causes, but should definitely see a doctor to get that diagnosed and treated appropriately.  Good luck.
