Red bumps and finger: Swelling can mean a lot of things but a common problem on the elbow and extensor surface of the forearmm that can be associated woth sudden finger swelling or knuckle arthritis especially the distal joints near the finger tips is psorasis and psoriatic arthritis. Onset of rashes and joint swelling needs to be evaluated in person by a medical provider.

Acute Rheumatoid: Acute swelling of joints could be a serious problem. You may have an 'auto-immune' disease where you are making antibodies to your own joints (example=rheumatoid arthritis).
Simple blood tests can sort this out. The fastest test is a 'sed. Rate' (&crp) and if elevated highly suggests an auto-immune disease.  I recommend getting to your doctor right away, then you may need a  'rheumatologist'.

R/O RAYNAUDS: Raynauds is vasospasm of blood vessels. It is usually symptomatic in hands and feet. It can be PRIMARY OR SECONDARY &amp; ASSOCIATED WITH AUTOIMMUNE/COLLAGEN VASCULAR DISEASE. You need a full exam and lab TESTS. It can respond to ASPRIN/TRENTAL/CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKERS

Multiple things: Ask your doctor if you may have raynaud's phenomenon, which turns fingers and toes blue. Also your doctor can check for arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, or other causes. A rheumatologist would be helpful; rheumatologists diagnose and treat autoimmune diseases, arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions like what you are describing.

6yr old son gets hot swollen hands, fingers, ears, lips in cold weather or extremely cold food, depending on exposure. what causes "hot swollen skin"?

See below: Increased  blood flow to theses "extremity areas" is likely the cause.  As long as there is no pain, this is natural (to an extent) so to keep these areas from loosing blood flow  (cold can do this) and thus decreasing oxygen to the tissues, where, if without, tissues metabolism slows and if it stops, tissues can die.  His response may be slightly exaggerated but, without pain, i would not worry.

Inflammation: Sounds like inflammation. Must search for cause. Rule out food sensitivity. About 10 percent of population can be sensitive to nightshades, about 30-40 percent can be sensitive to gluten and casein. There are several viral infections that can give you the symptoms you describe and lab work can confirm if this it the case. For the majority the only intervention is time and controlling symptoms such as fever and pain. You want to limit your exposure to others until you are seen by a medical provider.
