my right nostril is super sore. i think its from rubbing it. it is mainly sore on the outside though. what can i do to stop this pain? it feels like someone punched me there that is what the pain feels like and it just stays there and doesnt go away?

Sore nostril: If soreness is accompanied by marked redness, a bacterial infection (cellulitis) could be present and they can be serious in that region of the face. Oral antibiotics would be needed. Another possibility is an impending herpes simplex infection(cold sore). Apply antibacterial ointment after hot(not too hot) compresses and if soreness persists and spreading redness develops, see your physician.

Pimples or herpes: Yep. Either you pick your nose when you're stressed or you have a breakout of herpes. Try and get them looked at one time when they're in full bloom - should be easy to sort out. In the interim try not to get so stresses...

Don't pick at it!: Be very careful not to touch it or pick at it.  Should see a doctor for further evaluation.  This could be serious!

Very small amount of: Moisturizer. Let me emphasize, very small amount of moisturizer applied to the nostril at night. Do not use more than a trace as larger amount can get in the lungs and cause trouble. Try a humidifier, especially in your bedroom.

Probable infection: The area described is probably ,in the skin portion of the nasal vestibule and is susceptible to pimples; Picking at these can aggravate them

Possible vestibuliti: Some cases of sore nostrils can be related to a bacterial colonization around the entrance to the nose.  This is often a staphylococcus problem.

Olive oil: Not evidence based medicine, but it is very effective. You need to moisten the inside of my sore nostrils with an olive oil. Apply gently on a cotton swab before going to bed.

gave up smoking 3 weeks ago now the inside of my nostrils are sore scant and dry. is this due to quitting and what can i do and how long will it last?

Moisturizer: There are a variety of moisturizing agents you can use, including lubriderm, around the area of your upper lip and nostril.  Increased humidification is important, particularly in winter when we are indoors with heating systems and very low humidity.  If these do not help, would consult a dermatologist. Am not sure this is related to quitting, though. Congrats on a great decision - stay quit!

Need more info: How long ago did this happen. Did you hurt yourself? Are you having a cold? You may watch and wait. If it does not get better in a week or so, see a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

Nasal soreness: Greetings. The inside our noses sometimes get inflamed and possibly infected with the staph bacteria that normall loves inside our nostrils. This is called nasal vestibulitis and may benefit from a topical application of an antibiotic ointment called mupiricin. This is an antibiotic that requires a prescription. See your ENT doctor for confirmation.
