Nerves control HR: Essentially out heart rate is a balance between the "fight vs flight" side of our nervous system and the "rest  and relaxation" side.  Our heart rates often speed up as a compensation just after a vasovagal (rest and relaxation side slowing your heart rate and lowering blood pressure)  These  nerves run back by the spine and esophagus and are tied to the stomach and GI tract.

GERD?: In the absence of anxiety, one medical issue that comes to mind is reflux (GERD).  Reflux tends to bother us more when we’re lying flat at night, and could produce the symptoms you’re describing.

Cardiologist: You need to consult with a cardiologist for testing.  In the meantime I would not engage in vigorous sporting activities.  If you feel like you are almost passing out, have chest pain / pressure or a heart rate over 115 you should go to the ER to have it checked immediately.

Deconditioning: Is likely contributing to your extreme fatigue. Gradual physical therapy should be part of your recovery routine aside from possible medicine adjustments as needed. You suffered life threatening complications following your surgery ( somewhat typical otherwise) and  time should be allowed for recovery.

Fast heart rate.: Your heart probably is beating fast. Would be helpful to know exactly what kind of fast it is.  Next time it happens measure your pulse rate ( measure for 15 seconds and multiply times 4) pay attention to whether it is regular or not.  If it is regular, below 150 beats/min and slows down gradually it is very likely benign. If not take the info to your doc for further eval.

Probably not: Skipping beats is not uncommon. If you drink caffeine reduce the amount by half. If you smoke, stop smoking. If problem continues, see your doctor.
