Accepted Answer

Some menthol DOES: Open up nasal passageways; however, it doesn't last very long...Sometimes it's better to use straight saline nasal spray or spray gel, because in the winter, nasal membranes will swell when they are dry.  The saline penetrates the swollen membranes and causes them to shrink,  secondary option might be a nasal steroid.

i have a burning in middle of my chest (like a menthol feeling). no pain or trouble breathing. under stress lately. is this type of burning feeling a sign of acid reflux? what other signs do i look out for and how do i treat it?

Chest discomfort: This is a nonspecific symptom which could be from tension or esophageal disorders. Lung or heart problems would have associated cough, shortness of breath or be precipitated or aggravated by  exertion. Reflux usually causes heartburn or sour eructations. You may benefit from stress management therapy. See your MD for better evaluation of this symptom persists.

: This perfectly normal.  Cold air drawn into the chest makes the contents of the thorax feel cold, as will mentholated vapour.  Fear not.

Rebound: You may have tachyphylaxis (or your nose has gotten used to needing the nasal spray). You could tough it out and in 1 week you will get better. If not you could consider getting a nasal steroid to treat allergic rhinitis.

Change in Taste: A change in the sensation of the throat, nose, and chest can occur with a recent viral infection, such as influenza or parainfluenza. Try using saline nasal rinses and oral gargles, 1/4 tsp/16 ounces. Usually, the sensation passes over time. Go see your doctor for an exam.

my husband is having issues. he said it feels like someone rubbed menthol on the inside of his stomach/groin area. it radiates upward?

Dyspepsia: also known as "heartburn" OK to use OTC antacidis and omperazole if not allergic to these medications. I suggest a thorough physical examination and blood testing.

Cigarettes: Smoking cigarettes is dangerous -- menthols or not. If you can quit, you'll reduce your risk of CV disease, lung CA, other cancers, stroke .... Not to mention whiter teeth and fresher breath... Think about it :) there are many options nowadays. Meet with a doc and try one that's right for you :)

No good data: Arsenic is a side effect of the type of soil the tobacco is grown in. This is not regulated.  Menthol is an additive to improve the taste and encourage the use of the product.  If these things concern you, then perhaps this is a terrific time to reconsider your tobaccom addiction and stop for good.  Tobacco smoke is full of toxins, poisons and noxious material.
