Sounds very: concerning, you should discuss these findings with your doctor, to be sure.  Testing/biopsy if masses would seem appropriate, all could be related or from separate problems. If all same source this would be very concerning for malignancy.

See your doctor: You were obviously diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age (23) which is always concerning and puts you at risk for other cancers just by being a cancer survivor yourself.  You shouldn't ignore any new findings like this. A biopsy might be necessary to rule out a second cancer especially if you received radiation to the chest/neck area. Please see your doctor.

Unfortunately : Unfortunately it is hard to know what it is until a sample can be taken.  I would be sure to have the follow up that's been recommende to you already.  They'll probably get a test that scans i see if the nodule is functioning or not.  It's usually a bad thing when it is functioning on its own.  However, since your thyroid labs were normal, it's likely not functioning on its own.  I would get it checked out and try not to worry until they know what it is.

Ultrasound : Ultrasound is very nonspecific in determing malignant from benign nodules, as 
dr. Cayce t jehaimi mentioned many of the pertinent characteristics for malignant lesions, size is a major criteria when determining to biopsy a nodule which is the only way to be certain whether it is benign or malignant. Nuclear scans are also used to correlate with the ultrasound findings to help o determine if a nodule  warrants biopsy or not.

Keep in mind benign thyroid nodules are very common as we age.

a 2.3 cm solid nodule found on my thyroid on left lobe. no needle biopsy yet. can i have the nodule only removed?  or is lobe removal the only way?

Thyroid nodules: If your thyroid nodule requires removal, the nodule can be removed, not the entire lobe.  The nodule can be benign and may not need removal.   Seek consultation from a good ENT or endocrinological surgeon for this.

Thyroiditis?: Make sure you see an endocrinologist for further evaluation.  Thyroid antibodies has to be measured.

Depends: It is possible to have normal TSH levels, and it is also possible to have abnormal TSH levels. Benign nodules may or may not change in size. Anytime there is a change in nodule size (especially a rapid growth) anywhere on the body, it's good to have it reevaluated by a doctor.

can a solid nodule 1.1 cm on thyroid go away on its own?

Accepted Answer

Not likely: If it is solid and solitary, it is probably a neoplasm, most likely an adenoma.  But it could also be cancer, so have it checked out.  Even if it is, most thyroid cancers have excellent prognosis with surgical treatment alone.
