Fibroma.: From what you describe it sounds like plantar fibroma.  Without seeing them its difficult to tell for sure.

Nerve: Most common causes are:

herniated disk causing pressure on one of the nerves going to the  foot (radiculopathy). Tarsal tunnel syndrome also can cause these kinds oif symptoms.

See a neurologist or an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation.

i have foot pain in sole of foot, feels like cramp. could this be because of disc bulge at l5 / s1?

Probaby not: The L5 nerve root inervates primarily the top of the foot.  While the s1 nerve root does inervate the bottom of the foot, neuropathic pain usually doesn't present with cramping.  It sounds like you have plantar fasciitis.  An inflammation of the arch of the foot, treated with nsaids like motrin.

Multiple reasons: A common complaint of patients with plantar fasciitis is morning pain when first stepping out of the bed.  Arthritis pain can also be worse before getting "stretched" out in the morning.  A long list of other things cause foot pain.

when i wake up or get up after resting my foot is super painful when i first walk. all seems to stem from the heel through the foot. after walking around on it maybe 30 steps pain is gone and it feels good.

See a doc.: The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. Which hurts more in the morning.  Osteoarthritis also hurts more in the morning.  See your doc to sort it out and tell you the best way to treat it.  See this page for stretches to do in the meantime:

i have lateral foot pain. there is some bruising and swelling it hurts when im resting and walking. should i get an xray? i have been doing the rice method but that doesn't seem to work. what could be the cause of this?

Yes: An evaluation and x ray may be obtained by seeing urgent care or your PCP. To rule out a fracture, please have an x ray. Apply local ice, take Motrin for pain and elevate your foot.

Depends: It depends on the location of the pain. It also depends on the alignment of your foot and running style. Running shoes wear out and need to be changed regularly to prevent pain and injury.
