Radiation: A single chest xray exposes you to about the same amount of radiation you receive annually from background sources (yes, we are always being radiated).  Theoretically, cells can be damaged, but your body has repair mechanisms.  Your lungs are not as radiosensitive as other tissues.  For a chest xray, the breast tissue is the most affected.

Depends : Some soft tissue densities on chest ct can represent nodules or masses, which can be related to tumor or infection.In arizona one of the most common causes of chest masses is valley fever (coccidiodomycoisis). Pneumonia and lung collapse are other causes of densities in the lungs.Usually person interpreting study gives ideas as to etiology. Next step depends on interpretation, medicine, surgery, etc.

Just a touch: Every center has a slightly different protocol but a typical soft tissue neck CT's inferior margin is the tops of the lungs.  Frequently however so little of the lungs are seen that no mention is noted in the report.

worried about a solid lung nodule 4 mm in 2009 and is now 7 mm, non calcified, smooth borders.  rad said it looks like benign soft tissue, possible granuloma.  do non calcified granulomas grow, and could a cancer grow at that growth rate?

Yes and yes.: Get an opinion from pulmonologist or thoracic surgeon regarding opinion about possible biopsy.  It depends whether or not the benefits of biopsy outweigh its risks.

: A biopsy usually provides additional specific diagnosis. There are panels of lung cancer markers also available by blood testing. Doubtful: Cumulative radiation exposure is known to induce cancers, but 1 ct scan is not alot of radiation, relatively speaking, though it may equal the amount of radiation exposure of several hundred chest x-rays. Be your own advocate if confronted with a recommendation that you undergo repeated ct scans.

Pulmonologist: I feel that you may have sarcoidosis and should be evaluated by a pulmonologist so that an accurate diagnosis will be made  through appropriate testing and proper treatment will be obtained.

Hard to guess: One's life expectancy is hard to tell even for the doctors who are taking care of the patient in-person. Life expectancy is not something we can guess on a free, public forum. With very advanced disease, the goal is to have better days during the remaining days, weeks, or months. The goal is not to live longer, but rather to live in more comfort to better enjoy the remaining time.

Hard to say: A mobile soft tissue mass overlying the clavicle is most likely a lipoma, which is simply a benign mass of fatty tissue.  A lipoma can be easily excised if it's bothering you.  If you've had it for 2 years and it hasn't changed size or symptoms then it's probably not cancer.  Further workup such as mri, biopsy, or excision can be done to confirm whether or not it's cancer.

c.t chest: a 5.5 x 6.2 x 3.7 cm soft tissue mass is notice in the apical segment of lower lobe. kindly inform me it could be benign or malegnent.?

See your doctor: It could be either.  There are characteristic of masses that guide the radiologist one way or the other.  I would imagine that your doctor will recommend a biopsy and other tests to help decide what this is.
