No way to tell : It is unusual for women to have much in the way of pregnancy symptoms prior to when the missed period would be. There are changes in taste and smell in early pregnancy.  If you miss your period and have a positive pregnancy test then that metallic taste may be associated with pregnancy for you.

Unclear: The symptoms which you describe are quite consistent with many diagnoses.  Pregnancy is one of many possible things that could be going on.  If you think you are pregnant, then you should start by determining when was your last period.  If it is late, then that could be the first indication you might be pregnant.  The best way to tell if you are pregnant is to undergo a pregnancy test.

Not necessarily.: Possible early pregnancy sxs: no period, breast swelling ; tenderness w darkened areolas, thin, white ; milky vaginal discharge, fatigue, ^ urination frequency, constipation, bloating, heartburn, backache, cramping, headache, food cravings or aversions, ^ sense of smell, enlarged waist, feeling faint/dizzy, mood swings, ^ gas, insomnia,  ^ gagging  ; yawning. They may begin after missed period.

Yes: Gum should not have any problems. Just be careful not to get any caffeine added gums.

on orsythia for 5 months. off for three weeks now. pregnancy symptoms..cramping, metallic taste in mouth, etc. could this just be from coming off pill?

Hormonal effects: It is possible that the withdrawal of hormones is making you feel symptomatic.  It is unlikely that the symptoms that you are having are related to pregnancy as the embryo is not in communication with the bloodstream of the mother so early.

No emergency: If you missed your period by 4-5 days, you may do a home pregnancy test. For metallic taste, try giving more attention to your oral hygiene, may be change your toothpaste, brush and floss regularly, if that does not help, you may wish to see a dentist.

Pregnancy test: If you had sex since your last period and have missed your period by more than 4-5 days do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Many thing going on: There are many things going on that may not be related.  See a doctor and find out what is going on.  If you think you may be pregnant, do a test.

See doctor: How long has the tongue been swollen since it may be the cause of your distorted taste?.  I would suggest that you get your doctor to have a look at your oral cavity and perhaps a dental consult as well.
