what are the best ways to keep the pubic area clean? any recommended soaps, etc?

Mild: Dove for sensitive skin and Aveeno (oatmeal) are the gentlest soaps to use in that area and seem to cause the fewest problems. Use products that are free of dyes, deodorants,and perfumes. Avoid bubble baths and bath oils. This is not an area in which to use hygeine products other than soap and water. It is also not a good idea to douche. Douching can cause infections and increase the risk of tubal pregnancy

it started 2 days before that when i scratches my pubic area , white patches like dandruffs appear ,  i have been using pears blue soap. in that area?

Accepted Answer

Dermatitis: Could be an allergic reaction to the soap, or a possible tinea cruris (jock itch) like rash.  Get an exam to be diagnosed and treated best.  Good luck.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. If you are sexually active, it could be an infection like herpes. It would be prudent to see your doctor. 
Get HPV vaccine.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Need more help: You are doing good things to help the ingrown hair situation but you need additional support so that you don't get infected.  Your doc can remove the hairs and keep you from infection.  Peace and good health.

i shaved my pubic hair using an irish spring soap for easy shaving. i applied too much soap. now i have reddish vagina and burns when i pee. any cure?

Irish Spring: This is a particularly harsh soap which contains eucalyptus and menthol type ingredients. Chemical irritation will pass with time.  Next time use ph balanced baby soap or shampoo.

Pubic Deodorant: There are better, safer ways to freshen smells coming from the crotch area. Deodorant bars, sprays, and stones are not made for use on the genitals and because they may contain chemicals that could be irritating to the more delicate skin down under. Keep the deo under your arms, and let's examine some of your other options.See your urologist.

? Yeast Infection: Body odors can be due to a number of issues. The groin and underarms have a high concentration of hair follicles and sweat glands. They can become infected. The moisture can lead to yeast infections of the skin or glands in these areas. If yeast infection, may be a sign of other condition like diabetes. See your doctor for evaluation.

question. ive read a lot of different information. is soap okay on the anus; or around it? i use a wash cloth and clean the area with soap, but i feel like its not all the way clean. theres some odor. do i just use warm water instead?

Accepted Answer

: Common bath soap is fine. I would avoid soaps with imbedded fragrance as these can trigger sensitivity reactions. Any soap film not completely rinsed with water can trigger itching.

Any soap: will do. Use one with an antibacterial ingredient. Also use antiperspirant.
