Dry cough: A ongoing sore throat warrants an examination of your  Throat and physical examination. A post influenza cough usually is dry and due to irritation/inflammation of the  trachea. It may be a long drawn out process before the dry,hacking cough clears. Of course your physician should evaluate you for persistent cough before dismissing it as merely an irritated windpipe for which robitussinDM ordered

Recurrent infections: Children will experience more colds and infections especially if they attend daycare, exposed to cigarette smoke or were forn very premature.  Chronic or recurrent congestion, cough may indicate allergies and/or asthma.  Less common is an immune system problem predisposing children to recurrent, severe or unusual infections.  An allergist can assist in sorting these out.

a ct scan revealed a spiculated mass 1 cm across in my dad s lung he recently had the flu with a bad cough he also smoked for 50 years and quit 2 years ago the doctor wants to wait 3 months and do another ct to see if it s still there if so he will biopsy

Spiculated lung mass: Could be serious.  It is likely that 3 months would not affect anything ultimately but the timing of the biopsy should be up to the physician managing the case.  It is not likely to disappear but could stay the same.

my grandson aged 7 years was treated with cough syrup and paracetamol along with azithromycin syrup (5 ml).for flu. he appears to have recovered but past 2 days he has wet his pants in the afternoon twice. he's been toilet trained since age 3?

: It could be related to his illness or to anxiety but you should have him checked by his doctor since this could also be related to high blood sugars. When the blood sugar is high, the body tends to produce more urine and in children, a sign of this can be incontinence when they previously were toilet trained. He should have a blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C checked. Good luck to both of you!

Maybe: Many people call a lot of illnesses the "flu", they are often just other viral illnesses...By 3, kids have often had several of these so you are probably experienced with these. Is he eating ok, sleeping and not having trouble breathing? Then the usual tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever, increased fluids, cool mist humidifier and maybe a cough syrup may be enough. Get evaluated: The vague symptoms are not specific to any process, but if this is enough that you &amp; the kid are unable to keep up your usual routine it likely needs to be evaluated. In excess of 110 children have been lost to flu in the USA this year so far.

Albuterol: Influenza has hit the milwaukee, wi area hard.  Influenza commonly causes a bad cough for 7 to 10 days.  Albuterol can be very helpful.  However, i always worry about pneumonia evolving as a result of influenza.  I recommend you see a pediatrician in the next day if you are concerned about your child's cough.

Asthma? Bronchitis?: That's too long for a cough or for repeated antibiotic treatment. Your influenza may have triggered an underlying problem. It's time for additional exams and tests to check out things like asthma and other causes of chronic cough. See your doctor, and don't accept yet another antibiotic prescription without further evaluation. If you're a smoker, do your best to stop.

Could be, see Dr.: Infants & young children can present differently than adults or larger kids. Baby is sick, and w/fever & diarrhea could become dehydrated, so should be checked by pediatrician / urgent care.
