Could be: though headache and muscle pains are usually part of a flu syndrome.  Does sound like a virus of some kind.

You are unlucky: or exposed to lots of viruses (child care?).  At the first sign of infection, start taking vitamin C, 1 gm ever 2 hours while awake or stop if you get diarrhea.  You might want to take a gram or two a day throughout cold and flu season as  a preventitive.  GOod luck!

Smoking not good: In general, anytime you share saliva (spit) with someone who is sick there is a risk of getting an infection.

mult possibilities: It could be multiple things, from sleep apnea which is s problem with the airway that can partially collapse on itself when you sleep at night making people feel like they wake up gasping for air, or alternatively it could be some infectious remnants or many other conditions including respiratory or cardiac. The best method to find an answer is to f/u with your physician.

Irritation: The dry cough from irritation can induced vomiting the coughing could be violent and strong to the point of creating a bad gag reflex that will induce the vomiting try to drink hot green tea with lemon and honey

Nucleic acid test: As I suggested earlier, get HIV nucleic acid test at 12 weeks after exposure to rule out HIV infection. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

This : This is considered an urgent matter and needs to be evaluated by a medical professional right away. Shortness of breath can be due to many things. The most concerning are asthma, heart failure, heart attack, severe allergic reaction etc.. Muscle weakness also has many causes, that may or may not be related. i have persistent itchy cough for a week now. i don't smoke and i just had a flu last week. i think its due to allergy, but how do i get rid of it?

Not uncommon: It is not uncommon to have a dry cough for several weeks after contracting flu.  However this also raises the red flag that you may have a mild case of asthma which needs to be ruled out if the cough lasts &gt; a month. Try honey in tea first but a  cough suppressant may be considered if it is keeping you awake.  If fever &gt;102 or discolored sputum develops, need to rule out pneumonia.
