Yes: You lucky! no more damage! If you able to move finger - than bones and tendons intact! Little swelling and bruising can happen . As finger was squeezed  nerves in finger got " irritated" and you may feel some tingling , numbness in finger. It should resolve in few days. Ok to use ice and gentle massage. Exercise range of motion - as squeezing soft ball.

Maybe: Trauma to a finger, such as closing a door on it, can damage the nerves of the finger. These nerves (2 nerves) run down the sides of the finger. It can take weeks or months to determine if these sensory nerves are permanently damaged.

Possible fracture: Yes, it is possible that the hand can be broken. X-rays would help determine that. If the x-rays are normal and the pain persists for more than 2 weeks, it is still possible that there is a fracture. More imaging (MRI or CT) would help at that point in time.

i unknowingly slammed the front door of my car on the right hand of my wife . after her screaming and as realized, i opened it immediately . she was done with ice and volini ointment but the pain is still there even after  2 weeks. please advise ?

Tendon Strain.: With rest, but passive motion, you should be able to have improved motion to make a grip.  You could use motrin or advil to improve 
the return to normal grip.  Elevate your hand above heart level when reclining should help.  Check with PCP if not improved in a week.
