Stop magnesium: It may be caused by the magnesium. Stop it for a while and see how you do. Discuss with your doctor/gi as you also have celiac disease-and it may be associated to your celiac.

See doctor: If laxative has not helped, it is time to consult your doctor to find out why. The nausea and change in stool size suggest that there may be something more serious than just constipation.

Old food: 4 days of a clear liquid diet results in no residual non absorbable products in small intestine.  When this liquid material is partially absorbed in the 12 or more feet of colon which contains suface colonocyte cells and bacterial, it comes out as you describe as small thin and mushy.  Has nothing to do with  a resolved diverticular problem.

pencil thin stools over a year some small amounts of blood. 3 ct scans this year all normal. no colonscopy, is it unlikely to be cancer given scans?

Maybe: A traditional ct of the abdomen/pelvis is not very good at finding small cancers.  A ct colonography or traditional colonoscopy  are better test for small cancers.    Check with your doctor, but ct colonography/colonoscopy sounds like a reasonable next step.  The advantage of colonoscopy is the ability to perform a biopsy if something is found.

Hemorrhoids: Narrow stool can sometimes be related to bowel obstructions (i.e., enlarged prostate,  cancer, rectal polyps etc). Am not familiar w hemorrhoids causing significantly thin stool.

Bowel habit change: This is most often associated with more frequent,  possibly softer stools.   May be seem with anxious patients,  or irritable bowel syndrome.  Less likely a constructive lesion as in colon cancer may present this way.   You're a bit young for that likely. Use of increased fiber and stress reduction should help.

if i have occaisional thin stools, could it be cancer?

Possible: thin stools suggest narrowing of bowel but this should be constant and if a tumor present there should be progression.  If this doesn't change on diet then one should consider colonoscopy.  In future a simple stool test will tell whether colon cancer protein present in stool and therefore if there is a lesion present or not.
