Phobia: This is most likely a symptom of anxiety. Since you have a phobia about choking, first get an examination by an Otolaryngologist for reassurance. If there is still this anxiety, an evaluation and instruction by a speech and swallowing physical therapist at your local hospital should help you overcome this fear.

If that doesn't provide an answer, get a referral to ENT for 'laryngoscopy' of throat and possibly 'esophagoscopy' of food passage.  Really can't say what is causing this common symptom without taking a look.

It would be important to be regular about your acid control. The globus sensation that you are experiencing could develop into something worse.
If food isn't getting actually stuck and you are having no weight loss then you are okay. Otherwise you are likely okay.

: You likely gave a sore in your swallow tube triggered by a scratchy food or acid reflux from your stomach. This can trigger a spasm in the tube which eventually relaxes. An ENT or Gastroenterologist can look down your throat with a camera in a tube to document any foreign object or sore. Most would not consider doing it until they have treated for reflux with no success.
