Lot's of people...: ...have hiatal hernias, whether detected by x-ray or endoscopy. Most are sliding type &amp; appear intermittently, requiring no intervention especially when small. Pls call your doctor &amp; ask him/her your question to get a most accurate response re: hernia size as well its reducibility. Some hiatal hernias, like large paraesophageal ones, carry potentially great concern, but yours is symptom-free.

Minor discomfort: In addition to surgical site discomfort for a few days (assuming a uncomplicated lap procedure), some patients report minor bloating and swallowing difficulty. Most surgeons put patient on a full liquid diet for a week or two to ease swallowing difficulty.  Most patients can resume work in 2 weeks without any problem.

can you actually rid small hiatal hernias? why if mine is small my acid reflux is so major? those over the counter drugs do not help me either. do i need surgery? would it be a long recovery even for a small hiatal hernia?
