Somniloquy: Sleep talking may be brought on by stress, depression, fever, sleep deprivation, day-time drowsiness, alcohol, or fever.
It more commonly occurs in men and/or children.  It is associated with other sleep problems, such as sleep terrors, confusional arousals, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Depends on cause: [1]  overall: get enough sleep. De-stress: relax, meditate. Unplug before bedtime. [2] avoid provoking drugs: sleepy antihistamines like benadryl, (diphenhydramine) tricyclics antidepressants, short acting sedatives like triazolam, zolpidem. [3] treat provoking conditions: gerd, restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, seizures. Good luck!

If stress related...: If your sleep talking is associated with stress (if) then reducing stress may be beneficial. Consider exercising more, tai chi, yoga, meditation, acupuncture, getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night or deep breathing.

It's common: Talking in our sleep is pretty common.  When i was young, i used to sit up in bed and have long conversations with my mother, and then my wife.  Now, at 66, all I do is snore.  Don't worry about it, just make sure you trust whoever you sleep near.

Many older men: The exact numbers are unknown because this is something men are unlikely to brag about and many do not bring it to their doctor's attention.  It is why ed drugs sell so well and many unfortunate practices as well such as the presumed improvement in sexuality from teas made from rhinoceros horn which is depleting the species.
