Somniloquy: Sleep talking may be brought on by stress, depression, fever, sleep deprivation, day-time drowsiness, alcohol, or fever. It more commonly occurs in men and/or children. It is associated with other sleep problems, such as sleep terrors, confusional arousals, and obstructive sleep apnea.

Sleep disorder: It is a sleep disorder in the parasomnia family.Sleep walkers arise in a state of low consciousness from slow wave sleep stage.And they do activities that are done while awake and fully conscious.Activities can range from walkin, sitting or driving , cooking and even homicide in very extreme cases.

Non-REM transition: Sleep talking usually occurs from transitory arousals from nrem sleep. The body does not move smoothly during transition from one phase of nrem sleep to another phase of nrem sleep. So, it occurs during partial arousals. Sleep talking may occur during rem sleep, when there is a motor breakthrough from sleep paralysis of rem sleep and u may talk loud while dreaming. This is a parasomnia.
