Cipro (ciprofloxacin) &amp; sleep aid?: well, it says no antacids, iron, or vitamins. While you dont specify which sleep aid you take, it's unlikely to contain antacids, iron, or vitamins. To be certain, however, check the label of your sleep aid &amp; obtain the name or active ingredient &amp; ring ur pharmacist and/or MD. Always tell each of ur prescribers all meds ur taking, including over the counter meds/supplements for proper counsel! :)

I'd be careful ...: As you know, manufacture of herbal supplements is not regulated so their purity, safety and effectiveness can not be guaranteed. You are on some medicines, including Lamictal and Toviaz, (fesoterodine) which are unique and actually could interact with quite a few things. Somnopure contains valerian extract &amp; Puritea contains ginseng. I hate to discourage something that sounds so promising, but I would avoid.

Antipsychotic: Useful for bipolar disorder and squizophrenia, seroquel (quetiapine) antagonizes serotonon and Dopamine receptores. Somnolence is a side efect useful for pts with insomnia.

Excellent question: The risks and benefits of any medication should be carefully considered, both by the prescribing physician and the patient. It is important that this be done on an individual basis. The best person with whom to discuss this is the physician who prescribed the Trazadone. If you see more than one doctor, it is extremely important each is aware of all your medical conditions and medications you take.

Sleep hygiene: Remains best, being able to do light exercise during the day, no food close to bedtime, easy on electronics and tv during late hours allowing for the stress accumulated during the day to be absorbed. It is between the mind and the body, finding the delicate balance, and with the understanding that nights will not be the same as days are not the same.

sudden increase in hair loss- started taking 20 mg atarax 2 months ago for sleep aid- direct relationship? if so, if medication stopped will hair loss stop immediately?

Not likely related: Loss of hair (alopecia) is not listed on the known rare side effects lists for hydroxyzine and a brief literature search doesn't indicate any case reports.   However, idiosyncratic individual reactions to drugs are always possible.  I would see a dermatologist for examination of your skin and hair and get advice there. If you stop, and it is related, I would expect gradual improvement, not rapid.

im on drug court and i want to take a sleep aid because i can't sleep i have a generic sleep aid but it has diphenhydramine hci in it will this make me test positive for anything or will it be ok to take it

The : The answer dr. Johnson provided is correct.  There are reports that with very high doses, Diphenhydramine has in rare cases, led to false positive drug screening for benzodiazapines.  However, if this were to occur, normally the sample would be retested using a more precise test and that would clear up the confusion.  It is reported that it could also trigger a false positive for pcp (but this is also very rare).
   Diphenhydramine is not a good choice for chronic problems with sleep. If you are in a program that requires drug testing, you might consider skipping the Diphenhydramine and working on sleep hygiene first.
