i'm very skinny, but somehow still have double chin. could i have hormonal imbalance? if so, then what hormones should i check. these past months i eat lots of sweets and drink sodas. could this also be one of the factors?

: Yes. Good diagnostic acumen.  I would not spend what ever coin you use in Bulgaria before looking at family photos of all women. Not likely hormones.

Variability: "Occasional" double chin likely related to your head position (chin down) when photos taken. Or if a slender person like you has a small chin, sometimes skin below chin less "taut". 
If you really want to "reduce" this, the only option would be surgical. See a facial plastic surgeon.

Probably: For 5'5 female, your ideal body weight would be closer to 135-140 pounds or so (110 lb +5 lb/each inch above 5'0") So, the extra 60 pounds may play into this, although not always, and depends on genetic factors too. Also postural mechanics and core strength can add to this if you tend to have forward head posture, which is not neutral. Losing weight will tend to show less of the double chin effect

You can't: If it is not an issue of obesity, then there is not much you can do. If the change is sudden, have a doctor take a look.

Yes: Swelling would be  severe, especially under the tongue at the floor of mouth. Swelling ; pain arise from infection, often dental in origin. Swelling under the tongue can lead to difficulty breathing. Er visit is recommended if you are concerned about this.

See below: Facial fat is related to overall body fat. The only way to eliminate fat from the body is to metabolize it (burn it off via exercise) or to have it surgically removed (liposuction). 
The appearance of a 'fat' face may be an indicator of another disorder (cushing's syndrome) if the overall body fat level is within normal limits. An md can evaluate this with lab tests.

Below: There are many reasons and all of them are anatomical,  that lead to a double chin. Fat, small chin, prominent muscles of the tongue, salivary glands. Get an veal;nation by a plastic surgeon and I am positive a good solution will be found for your trouble area.

Double Chin: Usually a double chin refers to fullness of the soft tissues of the neck.  This can be caused by weight gain.  Sometime patient complain of excess loose skin of the neck.  This is usually caused by gaining, or skin laxity from weight loss.  There are treatments to decrease the fullness and/or tighten the lax skin available if this bothers you.
