i'm using alpha-h skin care. contains aha and glycolic acid. if i start retin-a do i discontinue aha/glycolics? can i use retin a (tretinoin) .5% once every week?

Not both together: I recommend using one or the other and not both together, as both medications have a slight exfoliating action and are likely to cause more side effects if used together.  To my knowlege, Retin A (tretinoin) comes as 0.05% and that is the stronger formulation.  I suggest starting with 0.0125% or 0.025% first to see how your skin responds.

if i want to use a self tanner and an aha glycolic acid of 4%,  what would go on skin first to benefit from both?

AHA and Self Tanners: If you wanted to use both aha and self tanner it would work best to use the aha to exfoliate the skin and then the self tanner on afterwards. Otherwise the aha will take the self tanner off of your skin and you would lose your benefit.

Prevent sunburn: Hi there,I 1st suggest not tanning. If ,however you did tan or burn to much, best thing is vitaminE supplement, and wash with oatmilk(raw) that you through in old sock,put under running warm water, and then use sock to wash with.

Glycolics Thin Skin: Glycolic acids thin the skin, so self tanning would not be advised as your skin would be thinner from the acid.

More sunscreen: That is a low amount of protection.  Suitable for only small amounts of sun exposure.  If you are in the sun you should use at least spf 30 and go higher the lighter your complexion and longer your sun exposure.

Yes: Vitamin a and d cream for one- which is often located with baby diaper rash products as well as in the skin care department.

is the no.7 glycolic acid peel helpful for the skin?

Accepted Answer

Doubtful: All acid peels are designed to create a second degree burn, which helps with fine wrinkles. All peels should be done by a physician with experience. Some chemical peels are easy to perform, some require proper timing and removal.

i have white stretch marks on many places of my body, is there any way to make them less obvious? my skin is very pale, can i use glycolic acid?

Topicals can help: So glycolic acid or alpha-hydroxy acid based creams can help, along with augmentation with over the counter topical retinol creams(used at night).  But prescription strength skin peels(often with stronger glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid) in combination with prescription retinoic acids have a stronger effect.  Laser resurfacing is another viable option instead of mechanical dermabrasion.

Anti aging: Most of them have RETINOL in non- prescription strength and YES RETINOL can peel skin

Hydroquinone: The best treatment for uneven skin is hydroquinone (hq).  It is great for freckles, sun damage, and can help scars.  Do not use on moles or anything you're unsure of.  The highest strength available otc is 2%.  It is not very effective.  For something more effective (4-10%), visit your dermatologist.
