Parasites are not common causes of skin problems in the U.S.  Far more common is delusional parasitosis, a psychiatric condition in which patient think they're infected with parasites. It's difficult to treat, because it's very hard to convince the sufferers that they need psychiatric help rather than antiparasitic medications.

Fleas, ticks, bedbugs and scabies mites are common skin parasites is the U.S..  There are other skin parasites that are mostly found in the tropics.  The treatment varies depending on the species. There is usually 4 week incubation period.It is very itchy at night and affects certain arras wrist nipples genitalia ankles. Treatment is curative with elimite, (permethrin) or occasionally if necessary kwell lotion.
