Maybe: If the strep A were resistant to Biaxin it might culture positive. It is doubtful you would acquire strep while under abx treatment. The postnasal drainage from sinusitis can cause throat irritation. A better test to see if there were any strep around would be a rapid strep that relies on the strep DNA. This would be positive if dead or alive. Likely just a virus or drainage.

Usually does not: Throat symptoms can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or other virus (antibiotics usually not used), allergies, irritants, sinusitis, stomach reflux when asleep, etc... One usually sees the doctor if the throat issue is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn&#x27;t go away quickly. A strep throat swab test can easily diagnose strep throat.

i started abx last sunday for sinusitis. my child has strep. i now have white spots on tonsils but no sore throat or fever. can i get strep?

Not on abx: If you are currently taking the kind of abx we give for strep, you cannot get it. If you finished &amp; it was a long acting med like azithromycin it is likely still working to prevent strep. Attack rate within families ranges from 1/4 to 1/32 depending on the season. I would not seek treatment unless you have symptoms fever,soreness.

Sounds like a sinus : Problem. May not require antibiotics as usually don't give early unless meet specific criteria but there are comfort measures doc can provide for you. Feel better!

Probably not: A drug rash is more widespread. If your rash goes to your trunk and arms and legs it can be from the medication.

Unlikely: Probably not, based on the limited information you provided; however, significant tonsillar asymmetry is sometimes an indication to rule out lymphoma.  A consultation with your doctor or an ENT physician is recommended.  They may advise to perform a tonsillectomy.

Tonsils: The tonsils normally have cavities and once the infection disappeared they will still be present but not cause you any other problems

Blurred vision: Blurred vision can be due to any number of things.  If you woke up with blurry vision, it's possible your eye was open during the night and it is now dry, causing blurry vision, especially if you normally sleep on the same side.  If the blurry spot enlarges, becomes more dense, or generally is not improving within 24 hours and no associated symptoms, should have eye doctor look soon.
