Dietamoeba infection: Treatment may be with tetracycline or flagyl. Speak to your OB about drug toxicity. The worm should not affect the fetus or cause retardation.

: There is still limited information on this topic. It is known that high fevers during the first trimester can cause fetal birth defects. One study showed a 2% pregnancy loss rate in hospitalized pregnant women with covid infection &amp; a very small percentage or preterm deliveries. A case of placental infection resulting in miscarriage has been reported.

does having a stuffy nose/ sinus infection during pregnancy affect fetus in anyway? i had one for about 2 weeks and it went away on its own but i hear that it can cause meningitis and the stuffy nose can block off oxygen from baby. 35 weeks pregnant?

: Your fetus takes oxygen from your blood and thrives at a lower level of oxygen than you need for the outside world. At birth their oxygen level does not match yours until they have been outside &amp; breathing for 5-10 minutes. Minor nasal congestion like you cited has no significant impact on a fetus. Yes: There are some antibiotics that can be used in pregnancy. Some ear infections may be the kind that can be treated with topical medicine instead, so best to get it checked out if you have problems for more than a few days or if you have drainage, redness, r swelling.

Sinus - Pregnancy: Usually obs allow some antibiotics and nasal sprays. Some allow decongestants. Check with them and see an ENT specialist if you don't get better.

is augmentin 875mg safe in 3rd trimester of pregnancy for sinus infection?

Accepted Answer

Yes: By the 3rd trimester, fetal development is much less an issue and thus the Augmentin should be safe.  If your congestion is from the sinus infection, it will  improve in 3-4 days. However if the problem is from allergy, a nasal steroid may work.  Vasomotor rhinitis of pregnancy from hormonal changes can also be an issue in which case a trial with nasal antihistamine may work (not cat. B however)

Possibly: But not likely, and in addition, you should never make that assumption, particularly during pregnancy.  Go and see your obstetrician.  This could be something more serious.

Yes may be sinusitis: It could be return of sinus infection. Does saline nasal spray help relieve the pressure? Do you have a fever or swelling over the affected area?
