It might take few 2 or more weeks to clear  up
Dripping of the secretions to the chest might happen and this irritate the throat and causes coughing
You need rest, anti histamine and hot fluids
Lying with head in more sitting position might help reducing the congestion
See your doctor if the condition persists for longer time

Sometimes it seems worse during eating because you try to breathe through your nose while eating and this causes more sinus drainage into the back of your throat.
