Otitis media: You may have continue the same abx, as it appears it has helped as the fever went down and child is playful. However if he is not improving in the next five days, you may have to take him back to the doctor.

Give it a few days: Cough is a natural protective measure of the lung that clears trapped mucous deep in the lung. Antibiotics do not necessarily alter its course & may actually increase cough if extra germ debris must be cleared. Cough tends to persist for 1-2 weeks after such an infection so i would give it more time.
