Severe pain: Trauma severe enough to cause intra-abdominal bleeding will likely result in severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fast heart rate, low blood pressure, dizziness, and worsening tenderness of the abdomen. The presence of any symptoms just listed should prompt an immediate trip to the nearest emergency room without delay.

It depends: Any abdominal trauma has the potential to injure your spleen or other viscera, and cause internal bleeding.  That said, it generally takes a great deal of force to cause internal bleeding, such as from a car wreck or serious altercation.  However, if you have a condition that gives you splenomegaly, it is much easier to be injured.  This is a common problem with infectious mononucleosis.

Not likely, but...: Being punched in the abdomen can be very dangerous, of course.  It can injure your liver or spleen, or cause bruising on bowel.  Most of the time, the pain is just from abdominal wall bruising (made worse, possibly, by working out).  However, severe pain, bruising, swelling and/or nausea should cause you to go to the ER to be evaluated by an expert.

what is recovery after a blow to the liver like? my liver has a contusion/slight internal bleeding. i am concerned because i am experiencing pain.

Pain: The pain you have could be from the abdominal wall or lower rib cage, and less likely the liver contusion itself. If the internal liver bleed were to expand or rupture, you're pain would be expected to increase. You must have seen a surgeon during the course of this problem, so call them with your symptoms. I you haven't seen a surgeon, call a general surgeon for an appt asap.

Abdominal bleeding: Yes. Very dangerous. Only exception would be if somehow you know that the bleeding has stopped and is under control, but this usually takes a surgical (or endoscopic) intervention.

Unlikely: Your procedure should not cause liver or spleen enlargement. Anesthesia might cause a reaction or allergic response but these are usually discovered right away. Continued bleeding, pain, dizziness, or severe fatigue should prompt you to get immediate attention. See your Doc to address your concerns, it’s unlikely that a suction D&amp;C caused organ damage other than uterine perforation. Take care.

Liver failure : I realize how concerned you are about your son. As you can imagine that those symptoms are pretty serious. I am sure his doctors have a lot more information and are in a much better position to answer this question. I suggest you have a detailed conversation with his doctor with your son's permission.

Cats: I am unaware of it being documented for this type of injury to cause internal bleeding. However, signs to look for would be worsening pain, rectal bleeding or blood in your urine. A lite sign would be dizziness. The pain may last for a few hours.

abdominal pain or swelling or feeling light-headed, dizziness, or fainting , external bruising called ecchymosis or headache if the bleeding is inside the head.
