A bit of a buzz: Pseudoephrine will cause the release of  catacholamines (adrenaline like substances) which will make you a bit hyper.  The Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is sedating, so this will be countered. Mixing drugs like this can result in unexpected results and so is not recommended.

Vasocontrictor: Pseudophedrine is a vasoconstrictor.  This means it has the ability to temporarily narrow blood vessels.  Taken orally this can cause dizziness, rapid heart rate (palpitations) or headache.

Nasal sprays: You could try nasal sprays - Nasacort Allergy 24HR or NasalCrom, but these may take some time to work.  Some patients  do well with Saline nasal washes or Neti Pots.  Also try using Zyrtec or Claritin instead of Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) to reduce side effects.

i find that if i take pseudoephedrine once a day before bedtime, i sleep better and wake up feeling more rested.  i have no side effects i am aware of.  is this safe to do long term.  i do not have any health problems and normal blood pressure.  i am 56.

Not advised: Pseudoephedrine over a long period can cause side effects including elevated blood pressure. when stopped also causes a rebound phenomenon.

Quite a variety!: Side effects from Hycodan (hydrocodone) can include swelling, rash, increased eye pressure, conjunctivitis, slow or fast pulse, dry mouth, palpitations, chest pain, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, heart attack, ekg changes, fainting, agitation, coma, dizziness, mental clouding/depression, euphoria, faintness, restlessness, nervousness, weakness, sedation, seizures, visual disturbances, flushing, sweating, itch, hives, nausea/vomiting, & more.

Drowsiness: Hydrocodone may not have any side effects if patients taking it regularly.  The brain and body tend to acclimate to most side effects.  Constipation may be a side effect that lingers.
When taken occasionally, it may cause drowsiness.
If taken with alcohol or other sedative medicines, it could cause a dangerous level of sedation. In overdose with alcohol, it could be fatal. Talk to your physician.
