Various effects: In short term, mononucleosis can make you acutely sick with sore throat, mild fevers and a rash as well as abdominal pain, which can be from an enlarged liver or spleen and needs to be checked to avoid complications like rupture. 
Long term complications of mono include chronic fatigue, myalgias and glandular enlargements.
Most cases of mono recover spontaneously, however, with supportive care.

i have mononucleosis and developed a full body rash, not from drugs. how can i help ease the itch as i can barely sleep. i've tried nothing but rest . i had mono for 3 days total, and now only feel the effects of the rash.

If : If you have mononucleosus and sore throat and rash please see your physician to make sure you don't also have strep throat.  They often happen at the same time.  
In general though, itchy rashes like you describe can feel better with cool (not hot) baths or showers and taking over the counter benadryl (diphenhydramine).  Avoid wearing itchy sweaters too.

It causes swollen lymph nodes, sore throat ; fever and is spread when people have close contact. It is sometimes called the kissing disease. Avoid sharing utensils or kissing if someone has mononucleosis.

Mono: Treat the symptoms (fever- fluids , tylenol) do not give Aspirin ever. In severe cases may need hospitalization (severe throat swelling , abdominal pain-spleen enlargement-, respiratory distress. It could take 6 weeks for full recovery. Fever may last up to 2 weeks.

Somewhat: Transmission during acute disease is unusual since most of these patients are i'll and not in the mood to be with others.  However, in convalescence and years afterwards, ebv will be silently excreted in saliva. Called the kissing disease, infection can occur during this time by exposure to saliva.

Maybe,maybe not: Mono is usually a mild flu like illness in kids, but intensifies in older patients.In most it will run it's course in 3 weeks, in 10% it may take 3 mo and rare patients have significant complications.  Avoidance of potential trauma is advised as the spleen is often enlarged and could rupture if traumatized.
