Depends on the med: Sedation in a 3yo is generally well tolerated when used in the basically healthy child. The term sedation has a variable meaning, with a bit of benedryl making some groggy  to the gas anesthesia that puts them in deep sedation. Side effects depend on the med & how fast it leaves their system.

Maybe...: I only found one head to head comparison and the study was small. Seems that hydroxyzine has more "anti-itch" effect. The side effects were similar.  In a non-scientific website surveying users, seems that Hydroxyzine had more reported side effects.  I would like to know what kind of effect are you looking for.  They both have some similar and different actions.

i have insomnia for about a month and was prescribed trazaonde. side-effects were bad that was switched over to mirtazapine. ive been taking mirtazapine for about a week and still dont sleep the best. how long does the sedation take to work? weeks?

Risks: It sounds like you may be over-sedated with your medications, and you may need an adjustment in dose.  If you're keeping your food plan contained and are exercising, the risks of weight gain and type ii diabetes are less than they would be otherwise. This could become harder to manage as you age. Avoid processed foods; focus on lean protein, veggies, fruits, complex carbs, healthy fats, etc.
