See your doctor: If the shunt is protruding out of the abdomen and you can see it, you need to have it addressed by your neurosurgeon right away. If you are saying that you can see the shunt tubing under the skin traveling from the head down to the abdomen, that is normal. It looks like a ridge that travels beneath the skin. Two very different scenarios. If in doubt have it examined by your neurosurgeon.

how is the distal tube of vp shunts placed/coiled in the abdominal cavity? how long/far in does it usually go?

In peritoneum: The catheter is placed through a small incision or through a tube into the peritoneum.  It is threaded in several inches into the cavity.  Hope this helps.

what can be the likely cause of  pain in the right side of the abdomen around the fallopian tube area.

Accepted Answer

Many causes: Many possible causes for pain in lower right side including cyst on the ovary, ovulation from that ovary, cyst on the tube, pelvic infection, an intestinal issue, appendix problem or abdominal wall muscle issue. You will need to see someone to get it checked out.

i've bn for ct and ultrasound scans cysts found in ovaries and blockage in fallopian  tube docs said not cause of pain thats in vagina and abdomen?

Would have to see: The report, but you need a complete workup including bowel and urinary tract evaluation and then you may need a laparoscopy or robotic sugery to look into the pelvis as you may have adhesions or endometriosis which will not show up on the scan , but if it says the tubes are blocked you could have adhesions and scar tissue in other parts of your pelvis which can cause pain which can be seen at surg.

i have pain in my lower left belly i know i can't be pragnet cause i had my tubes tigh and had a parchell histaraktomy, the pain comes and goes.

Nonspecific : Abdominal pain is nonspecific, but a condition called diverticulitis comes to mind when talking about left lower abdominal pain. See you primary care to find out. May need a ct scan if your symtoms and physical exam suggest that. Diverticulitis is when the lining of the colon herniates it pouches out through the muscular outer later, and  becomes inflamed. Can be an acute or chronic problem.

i had my tubes tied 30 yrs ago just found out i had fluid in right side tube i have had severe flank pain @7 days .could this be cause of my pain.

It is possible, yes.: I would want to know what was the origin of the fluid? Is it infection/abscess? If so you will need antibiotics at a minimum with guided placement of a drain, or better yet surgical removal of the affected tube. If it is not an abscess, but still causing you pain, it's likely that surgical or interventional treatment is still indicated. Call your doc to discuss the plan.

my dads bowel was punctured from a peg feeding tube? can this cause frequent painful bowel movements? no sign of infection!

No: It's unlikely that the tube entrance (which is in the UPPER Gi tract) would interfere with the Bowel Movements (which are LOWER GI tract functions)

Could?: Almost anything 'could' happen.  The question is how you know the pain is rectal and not perirectal or radiating from some other area.  You should go back and allow the surgeon who did the procedure reevaluate you and find a satisfactory answer to your problem.  Hope you feel better soon.  Must be very disturbing.

what causes your cervix to be inflamed and infected besides std chronic pain like contractions i have my tubes tied and i'm having trouble going having a bowel movement it's very painful but my bowels are soft  i don't have any std i already been tested?

Get exam: There are many varying symptoms  going on. You need to contact your family doctor or gyn for follow up exam being sure to mention the rectal pain.
