68 yr old having d&c .have to be at hospital for 5:30 am. md. said i could take bp med lisinopril/hctz before surgery. what about pulmicort flexhaler, should i take it or wait until after .i'm taking melaxicam and anastrozole with me for later?

i am taking lisinopril and was just prescribed spironolactate. both of these raise potassium levels. (i also take atovastatin). i am scheduled for eye surgery next week. is it safe to take both of the potassium-elevating drugs, and have surgery?

: Routine surgery would include pre-operative testing of your current blood status before the procedure would proceed. That would detect whether there is any significant problem of your potassium that would preclude during the procedure safely. Please clarify this with the doc.

i've lost 80 lbs through gastric sleeve surgery, my dr said it's ok to stop taking my blood pressure lisinopril. can i stop cold turkey or wean off?

What strenght? what?: Ace inhibitors can be stopped abruptly if blood blood pressure is in the normal range and if the milligrams of the medication is low. Your prescribing doctor is in the best position to answer this question for you.

Gastric bypass: should not affect the safety or efficacy of the lisinopril.

i just recently stopped taking lisinopril. im  very nauseated  is this normal?

Accepted Answer

No: There should be no relationship between stopping Lisinopril and having nausea.  Did you start a different medication in it's place?  Lisinopril typically causes no GI effects from use or withdrawal.  If your symptoms continue i would consult your doctor for a full physical exam and evaluation.

i didn't inform my doctor that i think the lisinopril was causing dizziness/faint. now its worse that i stopped. i now have symptoms of social anxiety?

Lisinopril: I assume you have high blood pressure. Stopping Lisinopril without consulting your doctor may not have been the best thing you did, as probably your blood pressure is high now and it is making you feel dizzy. It will not affect your ability to socialize. Please check your blood pressure asap and get it fixed.

randomly started experiencing nosebleeds and then was diagnosed with borderline hypertension - 135/70 on average. was started on lisinopril, bp normalized and nosebleeds stopped within 2 weeks. can borderline htn be a source of epistaxis?

: Yes it can- tho there can be other causes. glad it stopped. If God forbid it recurs pl see an ENT doc. Hope it does not

how do i withdraw from lisinopril?

check with your doc: You can just stop it - there's no rebound. Why are you stopping it? If you have high blood pressure, you may need a substitute. If you have congestive heart failure, it may get worse. If you're on a diuretic, you may develop low potassium. This should be done with your doctor's supervision. That's why it's a prescription medicine.

So long as: There is no other significant reason not to exercise.  Lisinopril in and of itself is not a reason not to exercise.

Yes: Especially if you have had a cough or difficulty with lisinopril.
