If your kid eats a big variety of fruits, veggies, grains etc. Every day, than a multi is unnecessary. If the diet is less than great though, a multi helps.

Please get a good quality vitamin, not the common brands over the counter.  Many have just enough in them to be legal.  100% of an ingredient is often not enough.

Some separately: Best to take calcium or magnesium supplements at different time than other minerals. Taking magnesium or iron wi food helps prevent GI upset. Vit A, D, E, &amp; K are absorbed better wi fatty foods. Vit A is better absorbed when combined wi Vit E. Vit C helps iron absorption. Taking Vit D wi dinner vs breakfast helps absorption. Avoid taking Vit D,E or K at the same time as other fat soluble vits.
